Heart Protection

In 1887, Dr. Charlotte Duvall, a newly graduated medical doctor, receives news of her father's passing and immediately returns home to America to take care of her family's estate. While sorting through her father's belongings, she discovers a box of letters from her late mother, which brings her some comfort in the midst of her grief. However, upon reading the letters, Charlotte begins to suspect that there may be more to her mother's death than she was led to believe. Desperate for answers, she seeks the help of her trusted friend and director of London's police force, John Ellis.

John Ellis has harbored feelings for Charlotte since they first met. He admires her sharp mind, quick wit, and remarkable beauty, but has never had the courage to confess his love for her. Nevertheless, he is determined to assist her in any way he can during her time of need.

Although Charlotte never expected to find love while investigating her mother's death, as she and John delve deeper into a web of secrets and lies, she finds herself relying on him more and more, and gradually opens her heart to him in the process.

As the danger surrounding them intensifies, John vows to protect Charlotte at all costs, even if it means risking his own heart in the process. Despite his fears, he is determined to keep her safe from harm.
